High-Tech Setting ā Testing and Repair - Growth Opportunities
Your Role
Programming and TestingĀ Every day, we produce hundreds of PCBs at our location in Veendam, with part of the process being automated and mass-produced. The PCBs are programmed, configured, and tested according to the test procedure established by the customer. Some tests are performed manually, while others are carried out in series using specially developed test cabinets. These test cabinets are usually designed by us, but we also use test cabinets provided by the customer.
RepairĀ When the test procedure reveals that a PCB is not functioning properly, it is sent to the repair department. As a Hardware Engineer, you will then get to work. First, you visually inspect the PCB. Sometimes the problem is immediately visible, allowing you to resolve it by replacing or properly securing components using the latest techniques and equipment.
If the problem is not immediately visible, you will perform and analyze measurements. For this, you use, among other things, a multimeter, oscilloscope, soldering equipment, microscope, and a power supply unit. This way, you identify the problem and repair it. The number of PCBs you repair daily ranges from a few to dozens.
Common problems have been identified previously, providing extensive data. Sometimes this data immediately offers the solution, so you do not always need to conduct extensive research.
Registration and Process ImprovementĀ You register all detected errors in the system, including the error code, solution, and repair. When the same error occurs more frequently, you analyze the cause and come up with ways to prevent recurrence. You provide these findings to engineering so that we can implement process improvements together. In this way, you actively contribute to process improvement within Variass.
Growth OpportunitiesĀ You have the chance to advance in your role as a Hardware Engineer. This can, for example, involve developing test cabinets and test plans, where you work closely with the developers of our customers. Advancement to R&D engineer or process engineer is also possible.

What Do You Bring?
- A technical educational background, preferably in electronics.
- Understanding of electronic schematics.
- Good communication skills.
- Proficiency in English
- Willingness to learn Dutch
- You live within a commutable distance from Veendam.
