Lecturer Cultural & Natural Landscape Geography (0.6-0.8 FTE)

As Lecturer you will contribute to teaching undergraduate and graduate students in several courses. In the course Landscapes, you will provide lectures and practical and participate in the fieldwork weeks in Drenthe and Groningen. The course teaches students to unravel the structure and composition of (rural) landscapes. There is a strong emphasis on the relevance of historical landscape composition to present-day land use, but also on research training skills. Other courses you will take a role in are Bachelor Project, Reflecting on Human Geography & Planning, and People, Place and Culture. Involvement in Physical Geography and in the GIS course at bachelor level is also an option.

The Faculty of Spatial Sciences at the University of Groningen is looking for a Lecturer in Cultural and Natural Landscape Geography, with knowledge of landscape geography in the Dutch context.
The Faculty of Spatial Sciences (FSS) focuses on high quality teaching and research in the fields of spatial planning, economic and cultural geography and demography. FSS is also well-embedded in a wider range of disciplines, such as social, political and technology sciences. Our vision is to spatially transform society to support wellbeing and innovation. As Lecturer you will be positioned within the department Cultural Geography. This Department is involved in the master programs Economic Geography, Sustainable Rural Futures and the Research Master, and the bachelor program Human Geography & Planning. Research at the Department of Cultural Geography focuses on senses of place and identity, the relations between people and places, and the social experience of transformations in rural and regional communities. This position of Lecturer in in Cultural and Natural Landscape Geography aims to strengthen our teaching capacity within the fields of (historical) landscape development, and human and cultural geography.
