(Senior) Process Engineer

DNV â Technology Centre Groningen is looking for a self-propelling (Senior) Process Engineer to lead and execute projects focused on industrial decarbonization, low carbon fuels, hydrogen, carbon capture & storage, and emission reduction and verification. The primary responsibility of this role to facilitate the introduction of new clean and renewable technologies and de-risk such for DNVâs clients.
The role requires extensive expertise in gas processing, transport and storage, hydrogen, and carbon capture & storage and safety analyses. The Process Engineer will focus on technology assessment and qualification, with a significant part of the job involving the evaluation of performance under laboratory conditions. The job includes resolving complex technical issues, developing test-setups and conducting tests under dynamic and realistic conditions. Additionally, the role involves advisory (including reporting) work at a high level of competence and experience. Regular client contact, travel to site visits, meetings, conferences and other off-site events are integral to this position.
The ideal candidate will possess the ambition and drive to ensure excellent project execution, guarantee high-quality delivery and is contribute to the growth of DNVâs services in this area. Finally, the Process Engineer shall support an excellent operation of the Technology Centre Groningen test services.
DNV's Technology Centre in Groningen, the Netherlands, has recently moved into brand new facilities It serves as a catalyst for innovation and business growth, both for customers and DNV. The centre provides expert advice, R&D, and world-leading test facilities for various technologies needed for the industrial decarbonization and emission reduction. The centre combines expertise and facilities to qualify critical (gas) technologies, develop and check specification to tackle the energy transition.
The new Groningen facility is part of DNVâs network of Technology Centres that leverage the group's century-old experience in the maritime and energy sectors. It combines deep industrial expertise with test capabilities to qualify and apply advanced technologies for global transformations.
This position will be based in Groningen (the Netherlands) at the Technology Centre located at the vibrant Zernike campus.
Tasks include:
- Discuss and resolve complex technical issues
- Develop and win proposals
- Initiate, develop, and complete customer projects
- Perform overall project management activities
- Ensure excellent customer communication to build customer relationships
- Organize test related work
- Ensure efficient execution work
- Maintain good relationship with colleagues at the Technology Centre.

About you
Position Qualifications
- Preferrable a university degree in relevant engineering field (e.g. chemical, process).
- At least 5+ years of experience in process engineering, technology development and/or test laboratories;
- Strong communication and organizational skills (both verbal and written), able to work effectively within a consultancy as well as test environment;
- Strong competence in proposal & report writing, ensuring clear and accurate reports are produced in English and or Dutch;
- Ability to handle the complex (technical) problems and be able to guide individuals through the associated issues;
- Is flexible to occasional travel.;
- Ability to build and maintain relationships.
