De Zwarte Hond is looking for talented, enthusiastic urban planning students to join our design teams in Rotterdam and Groningen.

De Zwarte Hond is a design agency with around 120 employees working from Groningen, Rotterdam and Cologne. With a combination of expertise in the fields of architecture, urban planning and research, we add value to every assignment and to every urban or regional context. We are fully committed to our designs, but we also take responsibility for their realization: the end result must be just as ambitious and beautiful as the first ideas that come to the table.

Do you enjoy creating and developing urban planning assignments in line with the regional vision and local context? Would you like to work on making our future living environment more beautiful? Then you could be a good fit for our team.

What to expect from an internship at De Zwarte Hond:

You will work on projects from the first concept to the implementation phase, developing your design and presentation skills. You will gain experience working out details and translating your ideas for more beautiful places into inspiring drawings and designs.

As a member of one of our design teams led by an experienced urban planner, you will have your own personal mentor to guide you in your development. You can do all this at our office in the heart of Rotterdam or Groningen, where you can learn and laugh with plenty of enthusiastic colleagues.

An internship at De Zwarte Hond is for 32 to 40 hours per week and lasts for at least four consecutive months and preferably six months, between September en February 2026. We do not employ interns that live or study outside of the EU/EEA countries/Switzerland.

You are:

  • eager to learn, enthusiastic, creative and like working in a team
  • can get your ideas across in images and words
  • fluent in English. Proficiency in Dutch or German preferred
  • good familiarity with Archicad and Adobe, knowledge of Vectorworks, Sketchup or Rhino is an advantage
  • enrolled at a college or university
  • the internship is a part of your curriculum
  • you study in the Netherlands and have a Dutch student visa

Sounds good, where do I sign up?
