De Zwarte Hond is looking for talented, enthusiastic engineering students to join our engineering teams in Rotterdam and Groningen.

De Zwarte Hond is a design agency with around 120 employees working from Groningen, Rotterdam and Cologne. With a combination of expertise in the fields of architecture, urban planning and research, we add value to every assignment and to every urban or regional context. We are fully committed to our designs, but we also take responsibility for their realization: the end result must be just as ambitious and beautiful as the first ideas that come to the table.

Do you enjoy translating a sketch design into a realizable building, from designing details to modelling in BIM? Are you fascinated by the integrated process that deploys buildings to add real quality to their immediate environment – and vice-versa? Do you dream of designing buildings that make the city and their immediate surroundings more beautiful? Then you could be a good fit for our team.

What to expect from an internship at De Zwarte Hond:

You will work on technical design and detailing in the later stages of the design process. You will develop the skills involved in making architectural and construction drawings and designing details and 3D-BIM models. You will also take on the challenge of seeking innovative technical solutions.

As a member of one of our design teams led by an experienced engineer, you will have your own personal mentor to guide you in your development. You will do all this at our office in the heart of Rotterdam or Groningen, where you can learn and laugh with plenty of enthusiastic colleagues.

An internship at De Zwarte Hond is for 32 to 40 hours per week and lasts for at least four consecutive months and preferably six months, between September and February and 2026. We do not employ interns that live or study outside of the EU/EEA countries/Switzerland.

You are:

  • eager to learn, enthusiastic, creative and like working in a team
  • can get your ideas across in images and words
  • fluent in English. Proficiency in Dutch or German preferred
  • good familiarity with Archicad and Adobe, knowledge of Vectorworks, Sketchup or Rhino is an advantage
  • enrolled at a college or university
  • the internship is a part of your curriculum
  • you study in the Netherlands and have a Dutch student visa

Sounds good, where do I sign up?
