Aim of internship

As an intern, you will be engaged in designing, implementing and testing an odometry system that uses a wheel and proximity sensors to accurately measure the distance travelled by the PIG (Pipeline Inspection Gauge) in a pipeline. You will have the opportunity to tackle both hardware and software development and gain hands-on experience with advanced technologies in a realistic environment.

Tasks

  • Literature review: research on odometry, pipeline inspection technologies and proximity sensors.
  • Hardware design: development of a suitable wheel mechanism and integration of proximity sensors.
  • Software development: programming data processing software and implementing calculation algorithms.
  • Testing and Evaluation: conduct extensive testing to validate the accuracy of the odometry system.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of electronics.
  • Experience with sensor integration and basic programming skills (preferably in C++ (Arduino)).
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and show initiative.
