Repair Cafés are free gatherings that revolve around repairing (together). At the location where the Repair Café is held, tools and materials are available to do all kinds of repairs. On clothing, furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, toys, etc. Expert volunteers are also present, with repair knowledge and skills in a variety of areas.

Visitors bring broken items from home. At the Repair CafĂ©, they get to work with the experts. In this way, there is always something to learn. Those who have nothing to repair, take a cup of coffee or tea. Or go help with someone else’s repair. You can also get inspiration at the reading table, where books on repairing and DIY are available for perusal.

As a Repair employee, you are part of an international movement. Did you know that there are as many as 3,000 Repair cafes worldwide? In Groningen alone there are 9 active ones. Each Repair Café meets once every one or two months to help neighbors with their broken things. Many visitors also come for the fun or to learn something. That is why Repair Cafés often also need volunteers in the role of hosts.

Repair Cafés make products last longer, reduce the amount of waste, and help residents save on their expenses. Enough reason for the municipality of Groningen to support them. These are the Repair Cafés in our municipality:
