International School Fryslân is starting! With great enthusiasm and pride we share this fantastic milestone that PCBO Leeuwarden decided to realize the International School Fryslân. This means that we can now can start with the establishment of this special school, with additional opportunities for child care. This positive decision brings us to a phase in which we can take concrete steps. The very first of these: the recruitment of inspiring staff. With these milestones we are building a solid foundation for a school that not only enriches the educational offer in Fryslân, but also makes our region even more attractive to international families. This is a historic moment for Fryslân. Together we are creating a future in which internationally oriented education becomes a matter of course. We are greatly looking forward to making this dream a reality.
Our international school in Leeuwarden will contribute to the attractiveness of the city and province for international companies, but also promote the integration and well-being of international families. Offering high-quality international education allows children of expatriates and international workers to seamlessly enter the education system, making talented professionals more likely to choose Fryslân as their place of work and residence. This contributes to a strong, diverse and innovative economy.
The international school will be embedded in the vision of the PCBO Leeuwarden Foundation. This means that the school offers a meaningful and opportunity-rich learning environment in which children learn to learn, learn to think, learn to communicate and learn to live in a rapidly changing world. The school is a “Mienskip” in which respectful involvement with each other and the world is central. “Mienskip” is a place where children, parents, businesses and educational institutions work together to build a future where everyone feels welcome and connected. In this community, international and local students come together to learn from and with each other, embracing multilingualism and cultural diversity as strengths.
With the slogan One School, One Community, we emphasize that the international school is an integral part of both the local and the international community and align with the Dutch variant “Mienskip.”
